Marvel Officially Confirms 5 More Characters For Avengers: Doomsday

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Avengers Endgame: Encore!Even more characters are in Avengers: Doomsday than previously known, as Marvel has confirmed some additional members. Ahead of the blockbuster's December 18 release date, one of the lingering questions is who else from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the broader Marvel multiverse, will make surprise appearances.

Marvel Studios originally confirmed 27 Avengers: Doomsday cast members with its chair reveal video as production began. This confirmed Doctor Doom, Thor, Ant-Man, Captain America, Loki, the Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four, Wakandans, a multiversal X-Men team, and more would appear. During filming and the marketing campaign, more Doomsday characters were confirmed, including Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter.

However, some major MCU characters were not announced to be returning. Speculation has continued about whether Scarlet Witch, Deadpool, Wolverine, a Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and more will appear. Less than three months before Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters, five more characters have officially been confirmed.

This is thanks to Avengers Endgame: Encore. The special re-release of the Infinity Saga's culmination includes new footage setting up Doomsday. The new scenes in Avengers Endgame: Encore become Marvel's way of telling everyone that the following characters will appear in Avengers: Doomsday after all.

Hulk

Despite Mark Ruffalo previously denying that he was in Avengers: Doomsday, this is no longer true. Avengers Endgame: Encore includes a post-credits scene showing Bruce Banner in a bunker after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day to isolate himself from the world, for his safety and the safety of others.

Bruce's return in Doomsday is set up when he is surprisingly visited by Doctor Doom. The MCU's new villain says he's there to "collect" him, with Doom using magic to transport Hulk away. Bruce does not go willingly or without getting too angry, as a Hulk roar erupts while he is whisked away.

It is not directly confirmed in the scene where Doom takes Hulk, but his castle in Latveria on Earth-828 makes sense. The implication is that Hulk could be used as a weapon by Doctor Doom in his multiversal conquest plans. At the very least, Doom has removed the incredibly strong Avenger from the equation of defending the Sacred Timeline.

Ruffalo's Hulk has been in every Avengers movie, so his return in Doomsday would keep the streak alive. The difference this time is that Hulk could only function as a villain for the Avengers if he's aligned with Doom. While some may argue the scene is more so set up for why Hulk isn't in Doomsday and only returns in Avengers: Secret Wars, that is not the expectation Marvel has set by releasing it now.

Mobius

The second of Avengers Endgame: Encore's post-credits scenes confirm multiple members of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) will appear, with Mobius M. Mobius at the forefront. Owen Wilson's TVA analyst was introduced in the Loki Disney+ show, taking on more responsibility to protect the multiverse as the series unfolded.

While he was last seen walking away from that life in Loki season 2's ending, he's back in business for Avengers: Doomsday. The Encore scene shows him walking into the TVA headquarters for a day's work, only to learn that an incursion is taking place. Mobius quickly realizes this is not an isolated event, as 3000 universes are experiencing them. He is seemingly in charge of the organization's day-to-day operations now.

Mobius is now set up to be at the focus of any TVA subplots in Avengers: Doomsday. This could include connecting to Loki's individual story, as well as monitoring the status of the movie's main incursion between the main MCU Earth-616, The Fantastic Four's Earth-828, and the X-Men's unspecified Earth. Depending on what unfolds, Mobius and the TVA could be in harms way if they attempt to interfere in Doom's plans.

Ouroboros

Joining Mobius in the TVA is Ke Huy Quan's Ouroboros. He was introduced in Loki season 2 as the head of repairs and advancement, who also wrote the TVA's official handbook. Ouroboros became an invaluable ally to Loki in saving the multiverse thanks to his genius brain. After sticking with the TVA, he's now set to return in Avengers: Doomsday.

Ouroboros is featured in Avengers Endgame: Encore's TVA scene, watching the incursions take place. Once the TVA realizes that more worlds are colliding, Ouroboros is the one to understand what is happening. He ends the scene by saying, "The multiverse is collapsing," setting the stage for the epic story to come. He is now poised to be part of any continued role the TVA plays in Avengers: Doomsday.

Casey

The other familiar face among the TVA station is Casey. Played by Eugene Cordero, the TVA clerk was a recurring character in Loki. He became part of the core group fighting to protect the multiverse and change the TVA's purpose. This led him to become part of a new council to help steer the organization down the right path.

Casey is the first to notice that two Earths are firing missiles at each other, hoping to destroy the other Earth to stop the incursion. He should continue to monitor the state of the multiverse as Avengers: Doomsday unfolds. Whether the movie features more of Casey than this single scene remains to be seen, though.

Miss Minutes

Lastly, Miss Minutes (Tara Strong) is now confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, too. The TVA's artificial intelligence is heard through the headquarters, delivering exposition about what the organization does. The primary focus is warning people to stay in their universes; otherwise, they'll be hunted down by TVA Hunters.

While Miss Minutes was created by He Who Remains in Loki and wound up turning evil, the AI seen in Avengers: Doomsday is a version reprogrammed by Ouroboros. She might not wind up having too large a functional role in the movie beyond helping audiences who didn't watch Loki quickly get up to speed on the TVA's purpose in the multiverse landscape.
