Naruto: All Living Characters Who Surpassed Konoha's Strongest Hokage In Boruto
In Naruto's original manga series, Naruto Uzumaki reached the pinnacle of ninja power before becoming the Seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. However, the introduction of the Otsutsuki revolutionized the franchise's power scaling, bringing in god-like alien beings that absorb the energy of planets. Consequently, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations and its sequel manga, Two Blue Vortex, have seen the emergence of extraordinary powerhouses one after another, accelerating the exponential growth of new characters and gradually leaving Naruto's generation behind.
Although Naruto remains one of the franchise's most powerful characters in Boruto, the loss of Kurama has significantly diminished his fighting strength. Thus, even though Boruto: Two Blue Vortex no longer focuses on Naruto, who's currently sealed away alongside Hinata for his own protection, there are several characters who have managed to surpass him so far in the series, ranging from new-generation ninjas who have mastered powerful skills and combat expertise, technologically enhanced humans, and evolving new antagonists linked to the Otsutsuki.
Sasuke Uchiha
Although technically still alive, Sasuke Uchiha hasn't been an active fighter for some time after sacrificing himself for Boruto and having his chakra used to create Hidari. While the loss of his Rinnegan significantly reduced his strength, Sasuke still holds an advantage over Naruto since he also lost Kurama. Moreover, even without the Rinnegan, Sasuke spent a year acting as Boruto's mentor while Naruto was sealed away, giving him plenty of time to further hone his skills, which should place him above the Seventh Hokage in Boruto's current story.
As of #Chapter 37 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Sasuke remains sealed in an unconscious state.
Thanks to his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, Sasuke remains one of Naruto's strongest characters, capable of using Amaterasu and summoning Susanoo, all combined with exceptional swordsmanship. Even when caught off guard, Sasuke managed to stab Code in the eye, who, with his limiters removed, possesses strength surpassing Jigen's. The fact that Sasuke was defeated only due to being outnumbered and had to be temporarily sidelined from the story to allow for the growth of the Hidden Leaf Village's new generation underscores just how formidable his power is.
Hidari
Born from the Ten-Tails and Code's Claw, Grimes, the Divine Trees, took on humanoid forms and gained self-awareness after absorbing human chakra. In Hidari's case, his appearance, abilities, and instincts are shaped by Sasuke Uchiha, possessing all of his powers, albeit amplified. Linked to the nature of the Ten-Tails, Hidari has monstrous strength, in addition to Wood Release, the Rinnegan, and regenerative capabilities. Furthermore, Hidari can unleash Sasuke's attacks, making the sentient being a difficult opponent that Naruto, without Kurama, wouldn't be able to defeat on his own.
While Hidari was briefly outmaneuvered by the combined strategy of Sarada and Boruto, partly because he was still discovering his own powers and struggling to use the Chidori effectively without the Sharingan, there's no doubt that Hidari is the second-strongest Divine Tree, ranking just behind Jura. Hidari didn't even hesitate before attacking Code in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #37, the one responsible for sealing Sasuke. He currently stands as one of Boruto's greatest threats, one that will surely drive Sarada Uchiha's development.
Kawaki
Kawaki is a modified human designed to serve as the perfect vessel for Isshiki Otsutsuki's karma. This means his body incorporates scientific enhancements and has access to the Otstsukis skills. Kawaki had already demonstrated his potential in the first part of Boruto's manga, gradually mastering his Sukunahikona and Daikokuten abilities. But the fact that Amado has removed his limiters elevates him to a new level, surpassing even the current Naruto.
It was already possible for Kawaki to become stronger than Jigen, given that he doesn't suffer from the latter's physical limitations. However, the limiters placed on him prioritized defense and regeneration. Now that Kawaki can fully harness his offensive power, he is on track to reach a strength comparable to that of Isshiki Otsutsuki, an opponent Naruto could only confront by using Baryon Mode and sacrificing Kurama in the process. Although the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex series has shown little of Kawaki in battle so far, his power continues to grow, raising expectations for his destined future clash with Boruto.
Boruto Uzumaki
Boruto's strength has increased drastically following the intense three years of training during the time skip leading into Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. In addition to perfecting his version of Minato's Flying Thunder God Technique, he learned swordsmanship from Sasuke. He is by far the strongest among the current ninja of the Hidden Leaf Village, having demonstrated tactical superiority and the ability to go toe-to-toe with enemies like Code, displaying potential that surpasses that of Naruto's generation.
Although he has not yet reached the level needed to surpass Jura, Boruto gained a power boost thanks to the deal he made with Momoshiki, allowing him to fight using Karma. This enables Boruto to fully integrate Momoshiki's powers, such as chakra absorption and using Uzuhiko, into his arsenal without losing control. The Otsutsuki's powers, combined with his combat IQ, make Boruto an incredibly powerful character within the story.
Daemon
Daemon is a cyborg enhanced by Amado with the DNA and shinjutsu of Shibai Otsutsuki. His "Reflection" ability is a cheat skill that unconditionally repels all hostile attacks as it activates automatically based on ill intent and actively deflects physical attacks while he is touching someone. This makes Demon practically invincible, since not even Naruto could face him head-on, given that the more powerful the attack, the more damage the person launching it suffers.
Besides his "Reflection" attack, Daemon possesses superhuman strength and immense speed, to the point of being considered a massive threat to Isshiki Otsutsuki. Daemon is completely confident in his power and has faced dangerous opponents, such as Code and multiple clones of the Divine Tree Mamushi, with total nonchalance. The fact that Reflection functions both passively and actively and can also transfer its ability to another person upon direct contact adds great versatility to Daemon as a fighter.
Jura
Jura is the leader of the Divine Trees and stands in a league of his own. He possesses overwhelming physical strength and regenerative abilities, yet also commands immense offensive power, having been seen launching Tailed Beast Bombs capable of causing massive destruction. He is considered a direct incarnation of the Ten-Tails, implying that he is an evolved form of the Divine Trees, given that he lacks a known human vessel.
What makes Jura so dangerous is that Kashin Koji’s prescience foretells that he succeeds in destroying Earth in virtually every timeline. This implies not only that he currently surpasses Naruto and Boruto, but also that he possesses the strength to defeat all the series' powerful characters, such as Kawaki and even Daemon. Jura’s colossal chakra reserves and extreme durability make him difficult to destroy, positioning him as the greatest threat in Boruto's story for the time being.
Shibai Otsutsuki
Shibai represents the pinnacle of the Otsutsuki clan and is the strongest being mentioned in the Naruto franchise to date. Although he hasn't made a formal appearance in the story, Shibai is alive in theory, given that he managed to transcend existence by abandoning his physical body, effectively becoming a deity.
A testament to his unrivaled power, the overpowered shinjutsu abilities of both Daemon and Eida originate from Shibai, leaving readers to imagine just how superior these skills might be if the Otsutsuki were able to employ them to their full potential. While it is unknown whether Shibai will actually appear in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, his overwhelming presence, having ascended to the status of an ancient god, clearly places him on a level above Naruto Uzumaki.
